Vernissage Everybody's in the Room Again

Ellen Akimoto reflects the complexity and ambiguity of our surroundings and our social selves in her predominantly figurative painting. She uses skewed perspectives, stylistic mixtures, and a tension between the familiar and the disturbing to create uncanny spaces in which forms are generated through painterly gestures and digital collages. The resulting images are fragments of worlds that are full of contradictions and show possible alternatives.
